Signal cabling
The purpose of signal cabling is signal transmission, unlike, for example, power cables used for power and electricity transmission. Today, signal cables usually consist of thin conductors in oxygen-free copper to reduce the risk of oxidation. Signal cable can also be called control cable and is either built up with a number of conductors gathered in a housing or a few conductors where they can then be part of a network. The latter example is a type of bus system which means that several devices can communicate over the same conductor.
Where is the signal cabling used?
Signal cabling is used in automation and process control systems, but also in signaling and monitoring systems. In general, it can be said that the signal or control cable is located between the control unit and sensors and actuators, which together make it possible to create different types of functions.
